The purpose of the Optimist Club is:
- To develop Optimism as a philosophy of life
- To promote an active interest in good government and civic affairs
- To inspire respect for law
- To promote patriotism and work for international accord and friendship among all people
- To aid and encourage the development of youth, in the belief that the giving of one’s self in service to others will advance the well-being of man, his community and the world.
Our Club’s projects include:
· Sponsoring young people in Optimist International Oratorical & Essay contests that provide scholarships;
· Distributed 500+ Child Identification kits in the year;
· Teachers Appreciation at area Schools;
· Easter Project benefiting The Kitchen;
· Halloween Party at Bridges for Youth;
· Respect for Law Project;
· Childhood Cancer projects through the Optimist International Foundation;
· Fundraisers that have benefited the Regional Girls Shelter and the Victims Center.
The Summit Optimist Club is made up of individuals living and working in the Springfield area. All fundraising efforts are directed
back into the community to provide services for our youth. We have also assisted other area nonprofit organizations with their fundraising efforts.
A common belief of our club members is that an investment in our youth is an investment in our future.
